As an Event Manager, Developer Events, you will support the strategy, planning, and execution of developer-focused events, conferences, and third-party sponsorships. The Global Events Team at PayPal is responsible for designing and executing high-impact, strategic events that enhance brand visibility, deepen customer and partner engagement, and drive measurable business growth. This team leads a range of events, from flagship and B2B-focused engagements to third-party industry events, bespoke activations, and developer-focused experiences. By working collaboratively across regions, the Global Events Team ensures consistent brand activation, while localizing events to resonate within key global markets. The team’s focus is on driving awareness, fostering engagement, and generating quantifiable business results.
In your role as an Event Manager, you will
Manage the end-to-end execution of developer-focused events, including proprietary developer conferences, third-party industry events, and strategic sponsorship activations.
Oversees content curation, speaker recruitment, and agenda development to create engaging and impactful developer experiences.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Brand, and Communications, to ensure alignment with business objectives and target audience needs.
Develop comprehensive event briefs, communication plans, and activation strategies, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on goals, deliverables, and timelines.
Manage third-party sponsorships and industry event activations, optimizing participation to maximize brand visibility, audience engagement, and lead generation.
Oversee event operations and logistics, including venue selection, registration, AV production, and on-site execution, ensuring flawless event delivery.
Track, measure, and analyze event performance, using key metrics such as attendee engagement, lead generation, and post-event impact to inform future strategies.
Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors and agencies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and maintaining strict budget oversight.
Drive innovation in developer event programming, leveraging industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance audience engagement and event impact.
What do you need to bring
5-7 years of experience in event management, with a focus on developer, technology, or B2B events.
Proven expertise in developer-focused events – experience planning and executing developer conferences, technical summits, and third-party sponsorship activations.
Deep understanding of the developer ecosystem – familiarity with technical audiences, industry trends, and developer engagement strategies.
Content programming and speaker management experience – ability to curate agendas, recruit technical speakers, and develop compelling event content.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills – ability to work seamlessly with Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Sales, and Communications teams.
Event production and technology proficiency – experience managing AV requirements, digital event platforms, and hybrid or virtual event execution.
Analytical mindset – ability to track event performance, analyze engagement data, and translate insights into strategic improvements.
Vendor and budget management skills – strong negotiation abilities to ensure cost efficiency and contract compliance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills – ability to convey event strategies and outcomes across all organizational levels.
Willingness to travel (15-25%) as needed for event execution.
CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) or CMM (Certified Meeting Manager) certification is a plus.
