Planning Branch Manager
With limited supervision, the Planning Branch Manager will lead the Planning Branch of the Division, overseeing both technical and administrative staff to ensure projects are executed effectively and strategic goals are met. In this role, you will guide daily operations, shape long-term transportation planning efforts, and drive meaningful outcomes for the department and the communities it serves.

We require :
Three years of transportation planning experienceBachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, or a closely related fieldPostgraduate degrees in a related field or professional-level-related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basisMust possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hireWe also value :
Two years of Senior Planner or Supervisor experienceSix years of transportation planning, engineering design, or other closely related fieldPrior experience working with a state or local governmentCertification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)Job contributions include :
Supervising planners and subordinate staff by interviewing and selecting staff, assigning and directing work, providing training, establishing goals, evaluating performance, counseling, and disciplining employees as neededOverseeing escalation of conflict or appeal of staff decisions, including Right-of-Way preservation, Planning Studies, Active Transportation, ADA Facility Requests, Patent Easement Abandonments, Unpaved Roadways, Park Roadway Planning, Development Review, and Project ProgrammingStrategizing, presenting, negotiating, and implementing partnership opportunities with other jurisdictionsOverseeing the transportation grant program to identify and track new opportunities, forecast resources, develop competitive bids, and successfully procure grant fundingAssisting leadership in developing departmental goals, providing input regarding departmental policies, and recommending and implementing process improvement effortsOverseeing short / mid / long-range planning projections and ensuring delivery of programming recommendationsProviding guidance in the creation of solutions to internal / external customer needsRepresenting Leadership goals and directives in meetings or projects with other jurisdictionsOperational budget development and monitoringProviding clear and accurate technical guidance to other departments, the regulated community, consultants, attorneys, other regulatory agencies, and the publicManaging and overseeing special projects as assigned by the DirectorApplying planning and engineering technical knowledge in the development of guidelines, standards, and recommendations as they relate to the roadway networkOther job duties as assignedWorking conditions include :
