About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Data Science to lead its AI / ML-powered document redaction solutions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in production-grade NLP and PDF processing, particularly in the areas of PII detection and Named Entity Recognition. Experience in a lean environment and the ability to scale a small data science team while actively contributing to the build process are essential. The role involves inheriting one team member and gradually expanding the team, so a collaborative and execution-oriented mindset is a must.

Key responsibilities for the Head of Data Science include bringing models to market, continuously optimizing them in real-world settings, and having a strong focus on MLOps. While experience with SageMaker is preferred, it is not required, as the learning curve is considered manageable. The successful candidate will be expected to have a startup mindset, be scrappy, and be comfortable working in production environments. Python fluency is a given, and the ability to work with a small team to deliver high-quality, customer-facing solutions is a critical aspect of the role.
