- Looking for a Fabric Materials developer who is excited to support design teams with finding the right fabrics for their designs. They'll work on multiple season lines at a time for Fall and Holiday and pick up AdHoc projects midway through. This role is a combination of creative and technical.
- Must haves :
5+ YOE materials development experience in textiles or accessories, interpreting materials requests from design teams and designers
Has worked with knits, wovens, ribs, print designs on fabrics - needs knowledge of textile material developmentHigh communication with overseas vendors by email and Zoom. Very cross functional with design, technical design, PM, and color design and development teamsNice to Have :Industry material trends, is excited and cares about textiles and fabrics, setting up pallets
General knowledge of material lab testing processes and can understand dataOffice, Smartsheets
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for an innovative and curious Material Developer with a passion for textiles, print and pattern. The candidate will use their technical materials knowledge, critical thinking and collaborative skills to deliver modern material solutions for our Womens Sportswear Apparel product. Strong skills in textile and print development as well as an understanding of the product creation process will ensure delivery of exceptional product for our athletes
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
If this is you, you will explore ideas in textiles and print / pattern from trend through technological advancements. This research will enable the collaboration with our product creation team partners to deliver on the highest level of athlete
experience with a commercialized materials palette grounded in our key sustainability goals. You will drive seasonal material development in partnership withvendors and manufacturing teams from concept to commercialization. This includes testing, tracking and creative material solutions.WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will report into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support our partners within Apparel including key collaborations with Innovation, Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sourcing and Manufacturing. You will need to work effectively within the materials team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new materials and maintain an understanding of how materials perform when in garment form.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree in a Textile Science, Apparel or a combination of relevant education, experience, and trainingMinimum of 5 years experience of an apparel product creation role or similar industry experienceTechnical materials knowledge, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing techniquesKnowledge of knits, wovens, ribs, + print & patternExperience partnering with vendor to develop and test a material from inception to productionStrong verbal and written communications skillsDigital literacy, including Microsoft office software and Product Data ManagementExperience managing multiple projects with competing resources and deadlines across multiple seasonsStrong information seeking-skills and a drive to make things happenAbility to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse groupAbility to network and apply internal and external resourcesExperience working with performance & lifestyle materials is highly desiredKnowledge of industry material trends
