Buyer Planner
The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing the procurement of assigned materials, components, equipment, supplies, or services. This role involves planning and monitoring inventory levels to ensure timely deliveries that support ongoing supply chain and manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct all purchasing activities for assigned materials and services, including obtaining competitive quotations and introducing alternative suppliers based on quality, cost, lead-time, and service.
- Review inventory levels and safety stocks to ensure alignment with requirements.
- Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships to provide competitive advantages such as the lowest total cost, highest quality products, and superior customer service.
- Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure requisitions or purchase orders are scheduled in line with requirements and take appropriate actions to resolve any issues, including expediting when necessary.
- Serve as a liaison for internal departments on purchase order management concerns and questions.
- Manage supplier performance by maintaining the open purchase order book for accuracy to support accurate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data for on-time delivery key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain cost discipline and identify opportunities to minimize costs by negotiating purchase prices with key suppliers to contribute towards a savings pipeline.
- Coordinate Business Partner setup activities in collaboration with partners in Quality and Finance for inclusion into the Approved Supplier List.
- Monitor and maintain team and individual metrics.
- Support Lean or Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities or initiatives.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related discipline or relevant experience.2 - 4 years of purchasing or planning experience, with an emphasis on manufacturing in the medical device or biotech industry; internship experience considered.Knowledge of quality system regulations and MRP / ERP systems.ASCM or related professional certification is desirable.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, quality, marketing / sales, finance, engineering, and R&D teams.Understanding and managing specifications, quality, delivery, and cost requirements to achieve successful purchasing results.Ability to work autonomously, effectively manage time, and deliver results on time.Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of MS Office and SAP.Prior contract or supplier management experience preferred.Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 / hr.
