Description

The structural engineering director will ensure that all projects within the structural group adhere to the latest codes, industry standards, and best practices. This senior position is integral to providing early design direction, driving quality and infrastructure improvements, and leading the quality assurance / quality control (QA / QC) process for all projects. You'll also oversee project submissions, provide feedback on necessary revisions, and maintain strong client communication. This position may also involve project management responsibilities, proposal development, market growth initiatives, and strategic planning.

We provide full-service planning, design and construction management services on everything from roadways and bridges to airports, stormwater infrastructure, and parks / recreation projects primarily for state and local agencies and municipalities.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in structural / civil engineering and an Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license required. A master’s degree in structural engineering or a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• 20+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on transportation projects.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role within an engineering environment.
• Extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles and methods, specifically related to bridges, retaining walls, culverts, surveys, investigations, and equipment for private, public, and transportation projects.
• Strong project management capabilities, with experience leading large, complex projects from inception to completion.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and client relationships effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in structural design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
