Job Summary : This position is responsible for going out to customer job sites to troubleshoot, diagnosing, and repair the commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and / or HVAC equipment. Communication to the customer regarding services performed is essential.
Essential Functions :
Arrive to work site on timeRead and interpret work orders and repair tickets, make accurate and legible notes as to work performedProperly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration equipment, and / or HVAC equipmentPerform preventative maintenance contractsFill out work orders completelyDefine service problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions about work needed to be performed for estimates or proposalsCommunicate with customers regarding repairs, with dispatch regarding status of job, with parts dept to order correct parts, with General Manager or Service Manager on difficult calls, and with manufacturers as needed for help diagnosing problem with equipmentCollect on tickets as neededResearch service history for customers' equipmentKeep certain warranty parts for return to the respective factoriesMaintain own hand tools and tools provided by the company.Maintain company vehicle, including keeping it clean, keeping inventory maintained and orderly, keeping vehicle fueled and ensure service gets scheduled for regular oil changes and other servicesMust be available for overtime calls and weekend schedule. Technicians are on a rotating weekend and night duty schedule. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for serviceAdditional Duties :
Participate in Service Department training and meetings as appropriateHelp customers with part requests and technical questionsAbility to use a personal computer and operate VMS software to look up part infoTravel to branch locations as needed to help outRepair certain in-shop equipmentRead and follow company procedure manual and safety rulesTake part in continuing education, as some factories require specific training on their products. Industry certification is available and strongly encouragedCross training of other positions as needed for coverageOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications :
Refrigeration technicians must be EPA certifiedFamiliarity with commercial kitchen equipment, and / or refrigeration and HVAC equipment and service terminologyMust be highly safety conscious. Abide by lockout / tagout trainingStrong troubleshooting skills, problem solving and organizational skills.Ability to work independently or as a team playerThe ability to work with customers, co-workers, and factory personnel in a courteous and tactful manner to resolve problemsThe ability to concentrate, handle pressure, meet deadlines and pay attention to detailGood organizational skills. Motivated, outgoing, self-starter. Able to follow through on duties and assignments with minimal supervision.Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projectsMaintain professional appearance / demeanorMaintain positive attitude under stressMust be at least 18 years of ageCompletion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen is requiredValid Driver's license and driving record that aligns with our safety standardsTypical Physical Demands : This job requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead. This position requires lifting to 75 pounds, requires manual dexterity sufficient to utilize many different hand tools, and requires normal range of hearing and vision. Often climbing ladders is a necessity and going up on rooftops. Must be able to work beneath equipment and in close quarters. Must be able to drive a full-size van.
Working Environment : Works in the field in restaurants, schools, or hospitals, or in the shop. Must work inside and outside during extreme heat and cold. Scheduled periodically to work overtime or weekend shifts.
