The Psychiatric Urgent Care (PUC) Towson provides immediate access to behavioral health assessment and stabilization for individuals experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises. Our program is designed to provide timely evaluation ensure safety and determine the most appropriate level of care in a supportive and recovery-oriented environment.
What to expect.
The Psychiatric Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations diagnoses and treatment recommendations for patients presenting with behavioral health concerns. Working in a fast-paced clinical setting the nurse practitioner conducts mental status examinations determines the need for hospitalization or other levels of care and prescribes medications when appropriate. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team the nurse practitioner collaborates closely with psychiatrists nursing staff and intake professionals to support safe effective and compassionate care.
Specific Responsibilities :
Complete psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments to determine clinical needs and the appropriate level of care.
Conduct thorough patient interviews and review collateral information including CRISP data medical history and laboratory results.
Determine medical stability and refer individuals to acute care hospitals when necessary.
Prescribe and manage medications ordering additional tests as clinically indicated.
Review and approve admissions through comprehensive assessment of patients clinical and medical status.
Collaborate with attending psychiatrists and service chiefs to recommend appropriate placement and ensure smooth transitions of care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with medical record standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning.
Communicate effectively with patients families and staff fostering a respectful supportive and team-oriented environment.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff modeling best practices and promoting professional development.

What we need from you :
Active Maryland Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license.
Maryland Controlled Substances Registration with valid DEA Certificate.
Minimum two years of experience preferred including training and practical experience in an psychiatric emergency setting.
The pay range for this position is $135000 minimum to $185000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to board certifications and years and level of related experience.
