Machine Shop Specialist - MSE and CBE
The Tickle College of Engineering’s Departments of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) are nationally recognized leaders in teaching and research.The success of these two programs depends on excellent staff to fulfill their missions.These programs are jointly supported by technical staff with capabilities in machining / fabrication and mechanical drawing / design as well as assisting in the repair of equipment.This role requires technical skills in the operation and maintenance of machining and milling equipment such as computer numerical control (CNC) 5-axis mill, lathe, and wire electrical discharge machine (EDM) as well as manual lathe, mill and other standard machining operations / tools.Welding experience is also desired such as MIG, TIG and stick welding and soldering will occasionally be needed.Finally, experience in minor electronics and electrical work is beneficial.

The Position :
The successful candidate will report to the technical supervisor for the MSE and CBE machine shop and will be an expert in precision computer-controlled machining and manual machining.Other duties will include helping install and maintain experimental equipment in the various MSE and CBE labs.Good interpersonal and communication skills are required as the position will work with students, faculty and staff to help take concepts to mechanical drawing / design to the final machined product.The successful candidate must support the MSE and CBE department culture that is a highly diverse group with various ethnic backgrounds.
