Join our team as a Public Safety Communicator II and be the critical link between emergency situations and life-saving response. Under the direction of the Public Safety Communications Supervisor, you will play a vital role in protecting the airport and surrounding community by :

Receiving and evaluating incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical assistance

Dispatching appropriate personnel and resources swiftly and accurately

Monitoring CCTV systems and terminal alarms to support daily operations and investigations presented in local, state, and federal courts

Assignments are rotated across specialized workstations depending on staffing and operational needs. This position operates in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment where quick thinking, precision, and composure are essential.

What you'll be doing :

• Operates and monitors Emergency 911 system, multiple talk group two-way radio system and departmental telephone lines, receives and evaluates incoming requests for police, fire and medical assistance and dispatches police, fire and medical units as required based on the nature of the call; disseminates information to field units as required.
• Evaluates and prioritizes emergency medical calls based on nationally recognized Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol.
• Monitors status of all on-duty police, fire and medical units, coordinating availability of each unit and calling in additional on-call personnel as necessary.
• Maintains notification files and requests services from other Airport Board departments, specialized police / fire units, secondary ambulance services, wrecker services.
• Conducts tests and interface functions on multiple electronic emergency systems and alarms, including the Emergency 911 system, to ensure proper operation and backup capability.
• Operates and oversees the CCTV system across the entire Airport in both secure and non-secure access areas, for incoming alarms, suspicious activities, and emergency responses; dispatches law enforcement for incoming alarms from terminal checkpoints in accordance with DPS Standard Operating Procedures and TSA regulations; monitor critical safety and security systems such as fire exit door alarms, exercising discretion in determining severity of situations and dispatching first responders accordingly.
• Monitors DPS radio traffic for calls to law enforcement, firefighters, and paramedics inside the terminals; utilizes CCTV equipment to follow and document police service calls for potential evidence in criminal or administrative cases.
• Ensures compliance with FCC regulations in telecommunications operations and monitors security areas via CCTV, dispatching law enforcement as needed.
• Supports law enforcement by retrieving, reviewing, copying, and distributing audio / visual recordings related to specific incidents, under the direction of a DPS Supervisor, for use as evidence in local, state, and federal court cases.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
