Director of Accounting

Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this role, you will oversee the financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across cash management, billing, payroll, and reporting functions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of one of the region's most prominent law firms.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of financial operations, including cash flow, client invoicing, and payroll processing.

Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate transactions.

Prepare monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Generate profitability reports and other financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.

Maintain and update asset schedules, calculate depreciation, and prepare tax-related schedules.

Oversee the year-end shareholder income distribution process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Utilize accounting and billing software to streamline processes and maximize productivity.

Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies while maintaining impeccable integrity.

Address and resolve operational and financial challenges with independent judgment and initiative. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Strong proficiency in accounting and billing software.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate financial statements and reports.

Knowledge of taxation, asset management, and depreciation calculations.

Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

CPA certification and experience with month-end closing processes are strongly preferred.
