Job Description
We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about identifying and advancing novel drug candidates for rare disease. This individual will be highly motivated and use their basic and translational science expertise to interface with the research team and external partners to replicate in vitro model systems of disease to evaluate novel drug candidates and drug combinations, explore their mechanism of action and identify pharmacodynamic and patient selection biomarkers to implement in clinical studies. The candidate will also be enthusiastic about supervising and mentoring junior scientists.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to :
- Independently lead rare disease translational sciences initiatives, working cross-functionally with preclinical and clinical teams to implement translational science strategies
- Demonstrate ability to design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret studies in model systems to validate new disease indications and identify potential pharmacodynamic and patient selection markers to support translational strategies for clinical development
- Work at the bench to develop and validate assays as well as train junior staff
- Identify and implement preclinical models to validate disease indications and biomarker strategies by developing external collaborations with academic institutions and CROs
Qualifications
Baseline skills / experiences / attributes :
PhD in biochemistry, cell or molecular biology, pharmacology, medical science, or related fieldsMinimum of 2-5 years of related experienceSolid understanding of model systems for dissecting disease biology including cell lines, primary cell cultures (including iPSC derived cells) and animal models – therapeutic area is not critical provided skills are adaptable to different tissue or cell models (e.g. oncology, CNS, pulmonary).Demonstrated expertise with in vitro and in vivo methods such as Western blotting, ELISA, next-generation sequencing, proteomic technologies, flow cytometry, etc., with the aim of developing assays to assess mechanism of action and biomarkersPrevious industry experience (at least 2 years) and a solid understanding of the drug development process from lead identification through clinical trials are preferredThe successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently, able to work productively in a team environment and take ownership of multiple projects.Demonstrated ability in preparing technical reports, protocols, scientific portions of clinical documents and publications.You Deeply Identify with Core AI Therapeutics Values :
