Duties and Responsibilities (

• denotes essential functions) :
• Provide mechanical engineering services and technical assistance in the operation and maintenance of all facilities. This includes : gathering information and data in the field, investigating problems and providing evaluations and solutions to the many variations of mechanical systems.
• Consult and maintain close liaison with private engineering consultants, public utilities, and contract specialists to inform and discuss serious difficulties, problems, and other related issues.
• Inspect repair, maintenance and renovation projects under construction to insure facilities are built according to engineering plans and specifications.
• Monitor construction progress to assure timely completion of all projects.
• Enforce materials quality assurance standards and insure on-site compliance with various standards.
• Review and approve submittal, substitution requests, shop drawings, as-built drawings, etc.
• Responsible for the authoritative staff review of a variety of mechanical engineering plans and specifications such as air conditioning, plumbing, ventilation and control systems.
• Prepare repair and maintenance bid documents, project schedules and cost estimates and coordinate the execution and construction of mechanical projects as well as the various building systems repair projects.
• Monitor and assure all building and campus systems are operating properly and efficiently. Building and campus systems include but not limited to architectural, mechanical, electrical and civil systems.
• Provide response and assessment to emergency situations related to mechanical systems.
• Perform duties outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines or project needs and for emergency response.
