Job Description
Position Overview : Worcester Public Schools (WPS) is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Event Caregivers to provide childcare services during family engagement events, school meetings, and district activities. The Event Caregiver will ensure a safe and engaging environment for children while their guardians / families participate in various school-related events.
Key Responsibilities :
Childcare Services : Provide attentive and responsible care for children during school or district events / meetings.
Engage in Activities : Plan and facilitate age-appropriate games and activities to keep children occupied and entertained. Activities may include puzzles, reading books, board games, coloring, group games, and supervised play in a gym.
Dinner Provision : With guardian’s permission, provide children with dinner or snacks during events, ensuring all dietary restrictions and allergies are adhered to.
Safety and Supervision : Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children. Ensure that children are supervised at all times and that any incidents or concerns are reported to event organizers promptly.
Communication : Communicate effectively with children, their guardians, and event staff to ensure a positive experience for all parties involved.
Setup and Cleanup : Assist in setting up and cleaning up the childcare area before and after events.
Qualifications :
Experience : Prior experience in childcare, babysitting, or related fields. Preference given to students participating in WPS early childhood programs.
Skills : Ability to engage children with a variety of activities and manage a group of children in a dynamic environment.
Communication : Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with children and adults.
Certifications : CPR, First Aid, and EEC Essential 2.0 certification is preferred. Willingness to obtain certification if required.
Background Check : Successful completion of a background check if the applicant is over 18 is required.
Expectations :
Hours : This position is part-time and hours will vary based on the scheduling of events. Flexibility is required.
Environment : Events may take place in various school settings, including classrooms, gymnasiums, and auditoriums.
Compensation : Rate : $15 / hour
