Sales Manager

This position seeks to grow energy business throughout the Dead River Company footprint. The Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of Sales Professionals that include : Energy Advisors and Business Development Representatives to develop relationships, drive sales and provide exceptional service that supports our Brand Promise.

Essential Functions :

  • Responsible for growing our residential and commercial business focusing on core growth.
  • Develops annual sales plan to include new customer targets and activities to support the Energy Division annual customer growth and retention goals.
  • Recruits, trains and coaches a team of Field Sales Professionals.
  • Creates annual budget and carefully monitors and controls expenses during the year.
  • Reviews and recommends appropriate sales related technology. Ensures technology is uniformly and effectively utilized. SalesForce.com experience a plus.
  • Provides leadership with new product launch campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
  • Measures performance of Field Sales. Develops metrics and tracking methods and then provides performance feedback utilizing the Performance Scorecard.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Sales and General Managers, determines sales territories and allocation of resources.
  • Collaborates with Operations Management to ensure customer satisfaction through the selling process.

Other Tasks :

  • Assists with special projects and other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Experience :

    The Sales Manager should have a minimum of five years of previous sales, sales / management experience. Industry experiences a plus but not a requirement.

  • Education :

    A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prefer a bachelor's degree in business management or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Contacts :

    This position deals frequently with the team of Residential Energy Advisors, customers, Dead River Market Managers, credit personnel, and our service departments.

    Decisions Made :

    Daily this position must decide how and where to focus his / her time. This position makes decisions primarily relating to how to attract and retain new business. More complex decisions are made in consultation with the Director of Sales.

    Safety Considerations :

    Since this position is frequently out of the office there are considerations relating to vehicle safety and personal safety from slip, trip, or fall.

    Equipment and Tools Used :

    Basic office and computer related equipment including I-phone, I-pad, and sales related software programs and web-based applications.

    Work Environment :

    A significant portion of the week is spent in the field traveling with Residential Energy Advisors and current or prospective customers in a variety of settings. Some regional travel is required to support business needs. The balance of the time is spent in an office setting. When out of the office, all weather conditions may be encountered.

    Physical Requirements Analysis :

    The position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking. There is frequent use of the fingers to write, input data into a computer system, and handle paperwork. There is frequent communication involving both speaking and listening in person and over the telephone.

    Weight or Force Moved :

    There is rarely a need to lift or move an object weighing more than 10 15 pounds.
