Job Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Merchandise Planner to join our team. This role
is responsible for building, managing, and optimizing merchandise plans that drive sales,
profitability, and inventory productivity across channels. The ideal candidate has 5 years of
planning experience in apparel, strong financial acumen, and the ability to balance data-driven
decision-making with a keen understanding of premium menswear and the customer mindset.
Responsibilities and Duties
Merchandise & Financial Planning
Develop and manage top-down and bottom-up financial merchandise plans, including
sales, margin, receipts, and inventory.
Partner with Merchandising, Design, and Sales to ensure line architecture and
assortments align with financial goals.
Create preseason plans and forecasts, adjusting based on business performance and
market trends.
Inventory Management
Optimize inventory flow to achieve targeted stock levels, sell-through, and markdown
efficiency.
Monitor replenishment programs and in-season performance to recommend reorders,
cancellations, or in-season investments.
Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure timely deliveries and accurate demand
planning.
Business Analysis & Reporting
Provide weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting on performance vs. plan, highlighting
risks and opportunities.
Analyze sales trends by channel, category, and style to inform future assortment
strategies.
Partner with Finance to support long-range planning and budget processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Merchandising to curate assortments that balance brand vision with
financial productivity.
Partner with Marketing and Retail Operations to align promotional strategies with
inventory and sales objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
5 years of merchandise planning experience, preferably in apparel.
Strong financial and analytical skills with advanced Excel and planning system
proficiency.
Proven ability to translate data into actionable strategies and communicate insights
effectively.
Experience managing OTB (Open-to-Buy), assortment planning, and demand
forecasting.
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment.
Collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
