Janitorial Worker

Join our dedicated team in maintaining cleanliness and aseptic conditions within the labor and delivery areas of the hospital. As a janitorial worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Clean rooms during night shifts, specifically in labor and delivery areas.
• Collaborate and interact with nurses in the department.
• Maintain clean and aseptic conditions by vacuuming, scouring, dust mopping, high dusting, making beds, removing trash / linen, washing walls, and ceilings.
• Use vacuum and cleaning materials effectively in daily work.
• Perform discharge cleaning when patients leave, including pulling linens, deep cleaning floors, walls, and bathrooms, and wiping down furniture.
• Utilize detergents and germicides, following recommended handling and mixing procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized station, cart, closet, and equipment.
• Report equipment repairs to the supervisor.
• Log activities throughout the work shift as required for paperwork at the end of the shift.
• Operate equipment including mops, computers, supply carts, detergents, brooms, vacuums, telephones, pagers, and hand sweepers.

Work Environment

Work throughout the hospital, potentially facing hazards such as chemicals, slippery floors, and step ladders. Atmosphere conditions may include dust, odors, bodily fluids, and aerosol sprays. The role offers two shifts : 1st shift from 7 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m. and 2nd shift from 3 p.m. to 11 : 30 p.m., with work required every other weekend.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
