Assistant Professor, Creative Writing

The Opportunity :

The College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for 3 tenure-earning, 9-month, assistant professors to teach Creative Writing (CRW) courses in the English Department. Two of these positions are in fiction and 1 is in poetry. These positions will be located on the UCF main campus with an anticipated start date in August 2026.

Creative Writing faculty are expected to publish regularly in their field; teach a 2 / 3 course load in our undergraduate CRW major (online and in-person) and / or our graduate MFA program based on our current workload policy; direct MFA thesis projects and serve on thesis committees; mentor and advise CRW students; and provide service to the department, university, and community.

Minimum Qualifications :

• An MFA, doctoral, or other terminal degree in English, Creative Writing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required by the time of appointment.
• A demonstrated record of achievement in publishing creative writing, teaching creative writing, and service.
• A significant record of publication in top-tier journals or by established publishers in their specialty genre(s).
