About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Collective Action for K12 and Youth Development. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of aligning K12 education and youth development, a critical issue area that has been deeply affected by a range of complex and interconnected challenges. These challenges include a decline in academic achievement, changes in federal policy and funding, the emergence of AI, teacher shortages, and the need for schools to address rising youth mental health and non-academic issues. The VPCA will be responsible for leading all aspects of this work, from ensuring that membership in the Alliance Community leads to significant organizational improvement to uniting them in powerful collective action. This role involves the identification and execution of collective action initiatives, management of a large number of member organizations, and the growth of members and programming over time.
Candidates for the VPCA position should have a minimum of 10 years' senior leadership experience in national nonprofit organizations and / or school systems, with a proven track record in program design, continuous improvement, and evaluation. The role requires a leader with a deep understanding of the field, a robust network of experts and funders, and the ability to set a compelling vision that inspires top leaders in the sector. Experience in fundraising, particularly for collective action initiatives, and a strong background in facilitating convenings with senior-level leaders are essential. The VPCA will also be responsible for managing 3-5 large-scale initiatives, so the ability to lead a team, communicate effectively, and ensure the success of these initiatives is crucial. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager, a leader in building a positive culture, and an adaptive learner who can navigate the challenges of a rapidly growing and evolving environment.
