Summary
Supports the Engineering team in the design, development, and testing of a two-piece size 8 contact aimed at improving right-angle contact performance, selective plating options, and overall manufacturing efficiency. This internship provides hands-on experience in product design, prototype testing, and engineering analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and modeling of the interface between the two contact halves.
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and participate in design reviews.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to produce prototype components.
- Test prototypes for separation force, electrical performance, and other key metrics.
- Document test results, analyze findings, and recommend design improvements.
- Perform cost / benefit and manufacturability analyses to determine production feasibility.
- Support the creation of technical documentation and design calculations.
- Ensure all work aligns with quality, safety, and engineering standards.
- Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and / or the safety coordinator.
- Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
- Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a production and office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials.
