Other duties as identified by the Senior Director of Student Success. Supervision is received from the Senior Student Success Coach.
High Point University’s Office of Student Success, Student Success Coach, is responsible for providing appropriate academic and transitional support to first-year students applicable to all aspects of the student's life tasks : academic, personal, social, and career. The Student Success Coach is responsible for a specific academic area and advising function. The candidate selected for these positions will address the unique needs of first-year students by providing holistic / pro-active opportunities, academic support / advising, and transition support. Facilitators will also assist in the implementation of programs and services designed to promote academic, personal, and social / emotional success, engagement, and retention of first-year students.
This is a full-time position that requires evening and weekend obligations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge about best practices in college transition / retention, and late adolescent development - including social and emotional development, as well as experience working with this age group. The ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment is a necessity for the position. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are required.
QUALIFICATIONS : Education :
- Master's degree required in an appropriate, related field (Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, or others) with 3 or more years of experience in advising and / or in higher education
