POSITION SUMMARY :
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Sports Director supervises, promotes, plans, and coordinates fun and memorable sports programs, in addition to supporting the Sports Executive administrative duties. The Sports Director’s planning and coordination of activities enriches the lives of community youth and adults.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Oversees the operations of all sports programs, including youth & adult sports and sports clinics.
- Develops game schedules, setup equipment for games and practices, organizes team practices and sports clinics, schedules sports officials, distributes rules and guidelines, and creates teams.
- Assist in developing and monitoring sports budget to meet fiscal objectives, and in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Recruit, hire and train staff and volunteers.
- Build positive relationships with members in the community and apply the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, responding to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
- Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
- Distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.
- Assist with YMCA special events and fundraising activities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
May be substituted with an associate degree and at least two years of related work experience
