Position description :
The Facilities and Operations team is adding an Evening Security Supervisor to lead a team of Security Officers in ensuring the safety of Aquarium property employees and guests.
In this role you will directly supervise a small team of Security Officers by providing guidance support coaching and performance feedback. You will also oversee timecard completion for assigned staff. As the primary point of contact for escalated and emergency situations during your shift you will model calm confident leadership while upholding Aquarium safety and security policies.
The Security Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Security Manager on training oversight and response helping to ensure the team is prepared supported and aligned with the Aquariums mission and values.
Key functions :
- Supervise a small team of Security Officers to provide 24-hour security coverage across Aquarium operations maintaining shift rotations and schedules to ensure consistent coverage.
- Lead the security team through training onboarding coaching and performance support ensuring staff are well-prepared high-performing and aligned with the Aquariums S.A.L.I.S.H. values and DEI commitments.
- Review and approve staff timecards.
- Maintain familiarity with all aspects of the Aquariums access control system.
- Conduct monthly check-ins with assigned staff to provide feedback and support professional growth.
- Coordinate break schedules and shift rotations provide daily direction to Security Officers and elevate personnel concerns to the Security Manager when appropriate.
- Serve as the point of contact when the Security Manager is unavailable.
- Oversee review and draft reports of daily activities and irregularities such as property damage theft unauthorized entry or unusual incidents.
- Interact with staff volunteers and guests daily with the goal of delivering excellent customer service to all audiences.
- Respond to challenging guest interactions using de-escalation strategies that prioritize safety and respect.
- Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid or securing assistance from paramedics.
- Follow Aquarium procedures for missing children and other guest safety concerns.
- Provide support for deliveries and shipping as needed.
- Assist with managing crowds under the direction of the floor lead.
- Coordinate with the Seattle Police Department in the event of 911 calls.
- Respond promptly and confidently to alarms and radio calls related to security.
- Conduct regular patrols of both indoor and outdoor areas of the Aquarium campus including the Market Square office while monitoring for facility-related issues.
- Interact with members of the unhoused community with compassion and respect while ensuring Aquarium policies are upheld.
- Assist in developing and delivering trainings for Security Officers ensuring proper implementation of Aquarium security policies.
- Coordinate with the Security Manager to ensure coverage in cases of unscheduled absences or other changes to the schedule.
- Lead and assist the security team in closing procedures.
- Act as the Aquarium security department liaison for on-site events.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the scope and level of this role.

Working conditions :
Salary and benefits : $28.00 / hour.
