Job Description : Parish Secretary
Saint John the Baptist Parish is seeking a Part-time Parish Secretary. This position will assist the Pastor and Business Manager in meeting the various parish office needs.
Main areas of responsibility :
- Serve as first point of contact for visitors
- Answering the phone and directing calls
- Generate Parish Bulletin each week
- Parish Online Communications, e-mail, social media, Flocknote
- Tracking weekly collections
- Oversee Parish Calendars
- Scheduling and tracking Mass Intentions
- Letter writing and regular / bulk mailings
- Sacramental Record keeping
- Filing
- Basic Accounting
This position will be part time Tuesday through Friday 9am – 3pm. The candidate must be able to work in an office setting (including standing, walking, public speaking, lifting, typing, and writing). The candidate must also meet all diocesan standards for employment.
The ideal candidate possesses professional skills and affective maturity. He or she is dependable, on time, organized, personal, creative, and outgoing, and can communicate effectively and clearly. Additionally, confidentiality and the ability to work well with others in a variety of tasks is essential. This candidate can also master various computer software, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Docs, TEAMS, QuickBooks, Eventlink, Parish Soft, and Canva. The right candidate pays close attention to detail and accuracy, understands and can articulate catholic practices, is self-motivated, and is able to problem solve on their own.
The candidate must be a fully initiated and practicing Catholic who is in good standing with the Catholic Church.
