General Statement of Duties

The Preschool Social Worker / Clinical Services Provider is responsible for the implementation, management and supervision of the clinical component of the therapeutic preschool class / program. Responsible for providing therapeutic services in the classroom setting, conducting assessments for children and families referred to program, coordination of the therapeutic services for children and caregivers, supervising staff and interns in relation to clinical aspects, case coordination with other providers involved with the child and / or family. Must demonstrate an expertise in the diagnosis and mental health treatment of young children and caregivers. Particular expertise in developmental trauma and attachment related issues is required. Other duties include consultation and case management services, completing necessary clinical records, and conducting program evaluations, and research on the clinical aspects of the program in coordination with ELP staff.

This is a 239 day or 11-month assignment

Essential Duties

• Coordinate and complete the assessment of all children who are referred to the program, determine appropriateness for program and make referrals as needed.
• Co-facilitate classroom experience with the teacher and instructional assistant by providing input regarding clinical issues within the classroom.
• Co-facilitate the therapeutic milieu by providing therapeutic interventions and by providing strategies for classroom staff to assist children with trauma based behaviors. This will include provision of information regarding the contents and organization of the classroom environment as it reflects the clinical needs of the children in the classroom.
• Coordinate and provide therapeutic components of the program, including individual psychotherapy for children, group psycho-educational therapy and individual therapy to caregivers of children.
• Provide case management services including coordinating / collaborating with professionals and maintaining clinical records by completing necessary documentation.
• Co-facilitate interdisciplinary team treatment meetings.
• Oversee and / or provide training and supervision to staff for clinical components of the program.
• Coordination and collaboration with other preschool providers as needed.
• Assist with program development and program evaluation in coordination with the Administrative staff.
• Coordinate clinical research evaluations, specific to the children and caregiver participants.
• Provide reports and clinical assessments as requested by collateral agencies.
• Serve as liaison between program staff and partners.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must hold a valid Pupil Personnel Services license as a School Social Worker and a Virginia Board of Health Professions license as a social worker.

Additional Information

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. Actual salary will be prorated based on the candidate's official start date in the assignment.

Federal Programs Clause :

This agreement for employment and the continuation of this position is contingent upon the availability of special revenue and grant funds.

The special funding for this position will be reviewed annually.
