Position Details

The JCISD operates and maintains Camp McGregor in Jackson County. An individual or couple is needed to oversee and maintain the camp, including living on-site. Compensation for this responsibility is negotiable, and adjustments in the essential duties and responsibilities are possible as part of the negotiation process.

Summary : Responsible for the oversight of JCISD’s Camp McGregor and continuous care for the buildings and grounds on camp property. This includes all aspects of scheduling and hosting non-JCISD groups using the Camp facilities. This also includes the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and all building structures and equipment on camp property.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities : Work is performed under the general supervision of administration. An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following : (Does not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform.)

• Responds to phone and email inquiries about camp usage and rental. Provides tours of the camp, maintains camp usage calendar and schedules reservations consistent with commitments to the 4-H organization and the JCISD.
• Coordinates check-in and check-out procedures for users of Camp McGregor.
• Orients users to all requirements and resources of Camp McGregor, including sign-off of use and clean-up procedures.
• Collects fees for the use of Camp McGregor, accounts for such fees, and remits such fees to the JCISD business office in accordance with procedures established by the JCISD.
• Assists user groups while at Camp McGregor, including on-call utility and maintenance issues. Such supports may be needed outside business hours.
• Performs routine building and grounds maintenance, including the caretakers’ residence, Lodge, boathouse, cabins, Math & Science building, Observatory and trails, as required by the JCISD.
• Maintain all lawns at camp, including mowing, string trimming, leaf blowing, weed control, shrub trimming, fallen tree and limb maintenance. Cuts firewood for campers, plows snow and salts, and maintains roofs and eaves.
• Monitors all buildings, grounds, and activities.
• Maintains inventory of both consumable and non-consumable materials.
• Cleans and maintains all camp buildings : floors, carpets, walls, windows, furniture and equipment, kitchen appliances, sinks, lavatories, exit lights, ceiling tiles.
• Make minor repairs, including minor electrical repairs such as light fixtures and switches; plumbing repairs such as replacing washers in faucets, adjusting valves in toilets and replacing faucets, toilets and urinals. Repairs door locks and replaces ceiling tiles.
• Complete minor painting as needed. May be required to perform larger painting projects, such as rooms, deck, etc.
• Reports to / consults with the JCISD Facilities Supervisor regarding the need for any major repairs or improvements to buildings, grounds or equipment.
• Assists with set-up and clean-up for JCISD staff meetings.
• Empties trash.
• Maintain dock and beach areas.
• Responsible for year-round access to grounds and buildings, including snowplowing and tree & brush removal when necessary.
• Monitor fuel supplies and trash collection schedules. Maintains septic tanks, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
• Winterize facilities as needed.
• Assists the JCISD administration in carrying out all district policies related to Camp McGregor.
• Other related services may be requested by administration from time to time.
• Drives a truck and operates a variety of work-related vehicles and equipment.
• Generally expected to live on-site to facilitate performance of all responsibilities.

Education And / Or Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Candidates with experience operating the following equipment are desired : riding and push mowers, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, extension ladders, and attaching / detaching snowplow blade.

Employment Date, Salary, and Fringe Benefits : Anticipated employment date is to be determined (spring / summer 2026). Salary and fringe benefits to be determined within level 17 of the technical operational support salary schedule.
