Job Title : Safety Coordinator
Location : Southeast United States

Reports To : Director of Operations
Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Safety Coordinator to oversee and enforce health and safety protocols on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and site compliance. This role is critical in promoting a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive site safety plans in accordance with company and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards
Enforce safety policies and procedures across all construction activities and ensure corrective actions are taken
Provide safety orientation and ongoing training for all personnel and subcontractors
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive recommendations
Maintain all safety documentation and reports in accordance with regulatory requirements
Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to foster a strong safety culture
Stay current with local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry best practices
Recommend and coordinate emergency response drills and first-aid readiness
Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance
Qualifications :
Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years focused on safety coordination or management
Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental safety regulations, and construction site protocols
Strong understanding of construction operations, equipment, and job site hazards
Certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or equivalent preferred
First Aid / CPR Certification required (or willing to obtain)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and safety documentation
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and report-writing abilities
Proficient in MS Office and safety management software
Preferred Skills :
Experience in high-risk construction environments
Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus
Knowledge of incident investigation tools such as TapRooT or Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Work Environment :
Majority of time spent on active construction sites
Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, and physical demands
Must be able to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods
