The Construction & Maintenance Department is responsible for the construction maintenance and operation of the Companys natural gas distribution system.

We are looking for a Pipe Layer VI to join our team!

Important Note : This role is considered safety sensitive and as such you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract criminal check a company sponsored medical and drug testing.

This position reports to the Companys South Durham Operations Center located in South Durham North Carolina.

What You Will Do :

• Installs natural gas pipe in ditches.
• Manually digs around various utilities.
• Pressure tests steel and plastic natural gas lines.
• Participates in the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks.
• Performs location of natural gas lines and facilities.
• Completes pipe maintenance activities.
• Installs test charts.
• Sets up common Department of Transportation approved work sites.
• Effectively flags traffic.
• Safely drives a company vehicle.
• Maintains the vehicle inventory.
• Operator Qualifications involve written guidelines and requirements natural gas employees must follow to ensure the safe and responsible operation of natural gas pipelines. Required annual Operator Qualification testing involves both written and hands-on components to ensure those who perform covered safety-sensitive tasks on the natural gas system are trained knowledgeable and qualified.

Who You Are :

Pipe Layer VI (at least 12 months experience)

Physical Requirements Include but are not limited to :

Balancing bending and stooping climbing crawling carrying (up to 80 amount of pounds) grasping kneeling lifting (objects 80 pounds) pulling hand over hand pushing reaching above shoulder repetitive motion sitting standing walking visual requirement (able to see screens detect color coding read fine print) hearing requirement grasping kneeling light moderate lifting (objects up to 80 pounds) reaching above shoulder repetitive motion sitting standing visual requirement (able to see screens detect color coding read fine print) hearing requirement.

Mental Requirements (Both field & office) include but are not limited to :

Ability to : understand remember and apply oral and / or written instructions or other information understand complex problems and collaborate / explore alternative solutions organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines complete routine forms compose letters outlines memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
