Trade Analyst

This position is responsible for supporting the Sr. Manager of Global Trade Compliance, Trade Compliance Manager and the overall corporate regulatory / Customs compliance initiatives. The incumbent is the subject matter expert and liaison with governmental regulatory agencies, US and foreign Customs agencies, Global logistics partners, externally managed Customs brokerage partners, HBI cross-functional areas and manufacturing facilities. This subject matter expertise includes all aspects relating to HBI's regulatory / global trade compliance, including Customs valuation and classifications, duty and reconciliation programs, trade program requirements / management, oversight of import documentation and audits.

Responsibilities include :

• Directing HBI Customs brokerage partners on day-to-day trade and import compliance activities to achieve issue resolution and timely / accurate Customs release of international shipments as they move through the supply chain.
• Performing the required due diligence to verify Customs free trade program requirements are met before allowing such claims to be made for imported and / or exported goods.
• Verifying import / export documentation to ensure that same is accurately prepared and in compliance with HbI internal procedures, as well as all U.S and foreign Customs / regulatory requirements.
• Daily Database Management. Performs continual data management, data cleansing and input required to ensure accurate and timely information is available to Supply Chain partners as needed The data drives the various regulatory programs and applicable duty rates for items moving internationally. Controls access to the various Customs related data portals.
• Analyzing finished apparel, raw materials, equipment and other miscellaneous items that are moving internationally to assign the correct Harmonized Tariff Number as required by global Customs regulatory agencies.
• Acting as a back-up to other team members during shifts, workload, volumes, expected and unexpected absences and / or cross-training.
• Acting as a back-up for the Manager, Trade Programs and Classifications attending meetings, conference calls.
• Issuing Corrective Actions to relevant HbI's internal and external partners in an effort to resolve and eradicate any regulatory / compliance matters and ensure that future international transactions are compliant.
• Managing the post-Customs entry documentation review process and performing assessments on selected HbI Import / Export Entry documentation. Documents post-entry findings and works to resolve any issues that may be noted, including re-filing of the Customs entry as required.
• Working closely with Customs Brokers, Trade Compliance Group associates and cross-functional areas to ensure integrity in the Import / Export documentation and shipping processes.
• Training new team members as well as educating HbI cross-functional associates on Customs related matters.
• Assisting team with prepared responses to US Customs regulatory audit requests.
• Arranging for Customs Brokerage / clearance processes & procedures for all US ports of entry to support the shifts in the supply chain.
• Liaising with other cross-functional areas in order to execute effective and relevant trade / compliance activities to support the organization's sales, purchasing, materials management, production and overall operating functions.

Minimum Education / Experience : Bachelor's degree with 3+ years relevant work experience OR Master's + 1+ relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education / Experience : Spanish fluency.
