JOB DESCRIPTION

The Medical / Surgical Operating Room Nurse is responsible for keeping patients safe during surgery by providing care before, during, or after surgeries and looking after the needs of patients with serious medical conditions, as well as those who are recovering from medical procedures. Operating Room Nurses need to be flexible about working conditions and care about the diverse needs of patients, they are tasked with ensuring operating rooms are clean and sterile while preparing for and following procedures.

DUTIES

• Keeping organized and following patient care plans exactly.
• Administering medications and using medical equipment.
• Communicating clearly and honestly with people from all backgrounds.
• Keeping good records and maintaining patients' charts.
• Using basic math skills adequate for dosage calculations.
• The ability to work as part of a team in an acute care facility / hospital.
• Standing for long periods, lifting moderate weight, and working in environments where there may be infectious material.
• And other duties as required.
