Salary Range : $65,000.00 - $101,000.00
Under the supervision of the Senior Artistic Producer and working as a member of Yale Repertory Theatre's artistic department, the Education and Community Programs Manager will manage all aspects of education and community programs designed to establish points of entry and access for the Greater New Haven (GNH) community to the Yale Repertory Theatre / David Geffen School of Drama at Yale (YRT / DGSD). Current programs include : WILL POWER!, the Dwight / Edgewood Project, and programming with local community partners related to Yale Rep's season programming.
Essential Duties :
- Keeping abreast of industry initiatives and trends, develop and implement WILL POWER! (WP!) middle / high school education program including but not limited to : identification of existing and potential audience(s); management of relationships with educators in the New Haven public school system; management of WP! group sales; coordinate and attend local classroom visits with guest artists; assessment and curation of the elements of the program's components. In concert with YRT's Senior Artistic Producer, collaborate in the development of associated WP! written and visual materials, including study guides and other teacher training resources.
- Oversee Dwight / Edgewood Project, an education program offered to New Haven middle school students annually in the month of June. Year-round responsibilities include but are not limited to management of relationships with educators connected to the outreach program; and supervision of DGSD students serving in all managerial, design and general staff positions of the program.
- Develop and produce events with local community partners, including but not limited to New Haven Public Library branches, related to YRT's season programming.
- Supervise, mentor and / or train, and evaluate DGSD students serving in staff positions on YRT-sponsored education and community outreach programs.
- Complete annual assessment of all YRT education outreach programs, reporting recommendations for future institutional priorities and resource allocation.
- Develop, maintain, and reconcile on a timely basis all education and outreach program related budget, financial records, and reports.
- In concert with Audience Services, advise on strategies for group sales reservations for middle school, high school, and college groups, including detailed content guidance for education and community group reservations.
- Forge new and solidify existing relationships with New Haven educators.
- Act as liaison for YRT to communities, including, but not limited to, Greater New Haven community, Connecticut educators, fellow arts organizations, and special audiences.
- Ability to work off-site for planned events, as well as ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities :
Required Licenses or Certifications : Driver's License
Physical Requirements : May have to lift and / or transport up to 35lbs of supplies and materials. May have to stand for long periods of time at events.
Preferred Education and Abilities : Preferred 3+ years' experience developing and implementing educational programs and community outreach for an Arts organization. Preferred prior experience working in large, urban school districts. Proficiency with Spanish language. Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the cultural arts, particularly theater.
Principal Responsibilities :
Required Education and Experience : Minimum requirement of Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
