Job Summary

The Gastroenterology Technician II (GT II) proficiently performs a variety of activities that support the nursing and medical staff of the GI Lab, which includes preparing supplies, equipment, and room for procedures; handling of specimen and cleaning / disinfecting scopes and other equipment according to standards; and troubleshooting equipment appropriately. The GT II demonstrates and role models personal and professional effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degrees / Work Experience : Endoscopy Technician Program (Or) One (1) Year Work Experience in gastroenterology and / or another endoscopy certificate program (ie - Surg Tech Program)
• School Education : High School diploma or equivalent
• Licensure / Certification : Completion of Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) Program or SGNA Advanced Associates Program is required within 1 year of hire (not required if Endoscopy Tech program completed)
• Basic Life Support : Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) and Red Cross approved program
• Communication Skills : Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
• Proficiencies : Personal Computer
