We're looking for a Database Engineer who will specialize in the high-stakes, end-to-end migration of customer data and database systems. You will be the team's authority on data integrity, replication strategies, and minimizing downtime. Your work is central to reducing customer risk and ensuring successful final cutovers for our most valuable clients moving to the DigitalOcean platform.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Design and execute data migration strategies for core database systems, primarily Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.
- Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) and logical replication setups to achieve near-zero downtime cutovers.
- Work with customer data teams to ensure pre-migration schema and data validation, and post-migration performance tuning.
- Develop automated scripts and tools (in partnership with the Platform Engineering team) to simplify common migration tasks like snapshot creation and failover testing.
- Provide expert guidance on database security, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) configurations within the DigitalOcean cloud environment.
