The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

The role of the Science Teacher is to ensure that each of his / her students learn the science skills articulated in his / her / they IEP, as per the NJ Core Curriculum.

• Instructional Program
• The Teacher makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that reflects the individual learning styles of his / her students.
• The Teacher creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies
• The Teacher encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.
• The Teacher provides progress reports, progress notices and report cards as required.
• The Teacher, when appropriate, plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for teacher assistants.
• The Teacher evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods such as teacher made tests, samples of students' work; mastery skills check lists, and criterion-referenced tests.
• The Teacher assists on the ongoing curriculum revision process, including the revision of written courses of study.
• Professional
• The Teacher upholds and enforces school policy and administrative procedures.
• The Teacher maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
• The Teacher works cooperatively with parents to strengthen the educational program for their children.
• The Teacher continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and / or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
• The Teacher maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations.
• The Teacher attends staff and committee meetings as required.
• The Teacher respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
• The Teacher is responsible for being knowledgeable of all the information in each of their student's records.
• Qualifications
• New Jersey Certification as a Special Education Teacher of Students of Disabilities, Highly Qualified in Science, or Teacher of the Handicapped
• At least three (3) years of experience in the above role

Job Type : Full-time

Pay : From $65,000.00 - $75,000 per year commensurate with experience
