The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University invites applications for a 12-month non-tenure track Instructor / Assistant / Associate Professor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and growing Critical Care team within the Department of Clinical Sciences, comprised of four dedicated faculty (two tenure-track and two non-tenure-track), along with boarded criticalists, hospitalists, residents, interns, and experienced veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. This team operates within the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), located on Colorado State Universitys Veterinary Health Campusan institution with a long-standing reputation for excellence in emergency and critical care and a successful residency training program since .

The Critical Care Service is grounded in a shared commitment to exceptional patient care, compassionate service, innovative education, and collaborative research. Team culture is built on mutual trust, personal accountability, and a strong sense of community. The VTH is equipped with advanced technologies including long-term ventilation, hemodialysis, plasma exchange, and advanced microcirculatory imaging, along with cardiac output monitoring and interventional surgical capabilities supported by a hybrid OR suite.

The VTH serves as both a regional tertiary care center and a verified Veterinary Trauma Center, with a diverse caseload across emergency, urgent care, and specialty services. On average, the Critical Care Team managed over 5, cases annually, with an additional 10, animals served by the Emergency and Urgent Care service.

Collaborative research opportunities are readily available through the department, hospital, and broader university community, including partnerships with nearby institutions such as Medical Center for the Rockies and the University of Colorado. The Translational Medicine Institute, a state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the VTH, further enhances opportunities for translational research and continuing education.

• Completion of an Emergency and Critical Care residency and eligibility to take the certification examination in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) or European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
• Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado

Assistant Professor
