Job Title : Senior Cost Accountant
Location : El Cajon, CA
Employment Type : Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To : Corporate Controller
About the Role
Our construction client is looking for a hands-on, experienced Senior Cost Accountant to lead accounting and administrative functions for our construction operations. In this role, youll ensure accuracy across project accounting, lead a dedicated accounting team, and work closely with leadership including the President, Project Managers, Estimators, and Corporate Finance.

What Youll Do
- Supervise and support one project accountant
- Manage all aspects of project accounting : requisitions, forecasting (CTC / WIP), over / under billings, and project cash tracking
- Oversee subcontractor billing compliance and invoice processing
- Lead regional cash collection and forecasting
- Prepare monthly P&L forecasts, finalize WIP, and present financials to leadership
- Monitor SG&A expenses and align spending with budgets
- Track backlog, identify CapEx needs, and oversee warehouse / equipment / inventory accounting
- Act as liaison between Risk Management and project teams
- Ensure smooth communication between division and Corporate Accounting
