Monitor and analyze market conditions, material costs, and labor rates to ensure that estimates are based on up-to-date and competitive pricing. Perform post-bid reviews and track the performance of estimates in awarded projects to improve the accuracy of future bids. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options during the estimating process. Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate cost information and develop comprehensive estimates. Communicate regularly with project managers and the preconstruction team to provide cost updates, adjustments, and clarifications throughout the project lifecycle. Serve as the point of contact for clients, addressing any questions or concerns related to project estimates and bid proposals. Prepare and maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and cost analyses for internal use and future reference. Generate regular reports for senior management on estimating performance, win / loss ratios, and market trends. Ensure that all estimates are thoroughly documented and in compliance with company standards and client requirements. Experience : Experience in commercial construction estimating, with a proven track record of successful bids. Extensive experience in estimating a variety of commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail spaces, healthcare, education, and industrial facilities. Technical Skills : Proficiency with estimating software such as ProEst, Sage Estimating, or similar platforms. Advanced knowledge of construction costs, materials, labor, and equipment rates. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Strong analytical skills to perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost breakdowns, and risk assessments. Leadership Skills : Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to handle complex estimating challenges. Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain estimates and bid strategies to clients and internal teams. Strong presentation skills to deliver cost proposals and bid reviews to clients and senior management. Organizational Skills : Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple estimates and bids simultaneously. Attention to detail to ensure that estimates are accurate, comprehensive, and competitive.
