Automation Project Engineer

Location : Aurora, Illinois (West Chicago Suburbs)

Job Summary

Pregis New Product Development (NPD), based in Aurora, IL, is seeking a talented Project Engineer in Automation to develop Automation Solutions that will be a driving force in the growth of the company. The Project Engineer will have responsibility for specific developments and support projects as defined and prioritized through our Stage Gate process. The Automation Project Engineer will handle development and installation of technologies to make engineered products to provide increased productivity with reductions in cost, waste and labor for our customers. This role requires energy, creativity, project management, budget and schedule control. This role will report to the Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop electromechanical automation products in a collaborative environment
• Effectively manage internal and external engineering resources in the execution of development projects
• Manage vendors for mechanical, PCB, controls, and industrial design
• Establish and maintain project objectives, reporting, budget and timing throughout the Stage Gate process
• Personally develop physical prototypes and proof of concept hardware setups
• Manage vendors for fabrication and other prototyping services as needed
• Design and detail (when needed) in SolidWorks
• Build and maintain BOM's and estimated production costs throughout development
• Lead projects through commercialization, including handoff to production, service, marketing and sales

Required Experience / Knowledge / Skills

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis' total compensation package. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $100,000 to $120,000 for this salaried exempt role.
