Job Description

This hospital is seeking a Medical Director to lead and inspire their professional team in Coppell, TX. The Medical Director (MD), under the direction of the field management team, is responsible for establishing the medical quality and patient care practiced by all doctors in the hospital. The MD achieves this through strong leadership, serving as a mentor and role model for veterinarians and staff. The MD is an integral part of the hospital management team, responsible for the overall financial performance and helping to create and drive the hospital's strategic direction to achieve positive results. The MD fulfills all duties of a staff veterinarian in addition to specific responsibilities such as yearly staff reviews, financial analysis meetings, management meetings, and training.

The hospital's working hours are Monday to Friday from 7 : 00 am to 6 : 00 pm, and Saturday from 8 : 00 am to 2 : 00 pm. The position typically involves working five days a week, with weekend shifts rotated among doctors. The caseload includes 75% wellness visits and 25% common pet concerns such as allergic reactions, diarrhea, vomiting, ear infections, eye issues, fleas / ticks / mites, dermatitis, wounds / lacerations, lethargy, loss of appetite, pain or limping, respiratory diseases, toxin ingestion, and urinary issues. As Medical Director, you would be expected to be the primary surgeon. Currently, surgeries are scheduled in the mornings Monday through Friday, but there is flexibility to adjust this schedule as needed in the future.
