The Veterinary Technician assists the doctors to the fullest possible extent to help improve the quality of care given to the patients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work at Village Animal Clinic.

The Veterinary Technician assists in multiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia as well as client education, marketing and inventory maintenance. This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; their symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventative health care recommendations. This is an overview of the position and the job responsibilities listed do not encompass the entire position. Compensation will be based on experience.

Duties include but are not limited to :

  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, treatment, surgical and dental areas
  • Understand the use of and dosage of commonly used veterinary medications.
  • Administer SQ, IM and IV injections.
  • Perform IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, digital radiology, In-house laboratory testing using Idexx machines.
  • Ability to provide client education - has good communication skills written and verbal.
  • Safely and gently handles animals as needed for examination, medication administration or procedures.
  • Works well as a team, able to multitask.
  • Takes direction / guidance / coaching well.
  • Ability to adapt to different doctor styles.

Our 6,500 square foot facility includes our hospital area, a separate cattery and dog kennel for our feline and canine patients, doggie daycare center, dog training arena, as well as an outdoor play area.
