Employee will serve as a Purchasing Agent for the Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service at the VA Medical Center Shreveport, LA. The role involves direct medical supply purchasing and inventory management support to administrative and clinical services, initiating obligations for all related requirements necessary to provide prosthetic and sensory aids servicesincluding durable medical equipment and suppliesto veterans.

Pay

Base pay range : $40,332.00 / yr $52,426.00 / yr.

Responsibilities

• THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION.
• Perform complex purchasing requiring research, analysis, collaboration, and other steps to ensure best value and appropriate devices.
• Carry out routine purchasing using established contracts or vendor resources, with necessary research and analysis.
• Provide independent technical?level purchasing support, acquiring veteran?specific medical equipment, supplies, and services based on clinical assessment.
• Vet and vendorize items not available through established vendor networks.
• Utilize reporting tools to monitor open purchase card orders.
• Obligate government in procurement actions up to the single micro?purchase threshold for open market and under established contracts.
• Research solicitation methods and ordering procedures in both purchase card menu and prosthetics program for complex and simplified purchases.
• Purchase specialized / customized equipment or services.
• Manage data collection for reports.
• Resolve conflicts in purchase orders such as protests, claims, duplicate billing, and terminations.
• Conduct thorough market research by obtaining competitive bids / RFQs.
• Use BPAs when ordering prosthetic items for Veterans for direct patient care or inventory.
• Complete mandatory purchase card training.
• Process emergent "stat" orders within 24 hours.
• Work schedule : MondayFriday, 7 : 30?4 : 00?ampm (subject to change).
• Ad?hoc telework may be approved; no telework authorization.
• This position involves a multi?grade career ladder. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher?level work, and availability of funds.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily sedentary when purchasing, but inventory management may involve standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25?pounds, retrieving equipment, climbing in storage areas, and moderate discomfort when visiting sites. Protective clothing may be required in the fabrication laboratory.
