BHC Alhambra Hospital is located in the beautiful city of Rosemead, California. Our 115 bed facility established in 1924 prides itself on upholding a standard of excellence that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. BHC Alhambra Hospital is a private, fully accredited, full-service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. BHC Alhambra is dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment. We offer inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options for individuals in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, and surrounding areas.

The Admissions Clerk is responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility on admission inquiries, preparing admission folders, collecting co-pays / deductibles from patients, assisting with establishing effective and timely payment plans, coordinating with utilization review and discharge planning efforts to limit risk of non-payment, providing ongoing patient benefit information, participating in patient discharge procedures, and coordinating financial arrangements with collection personnel.

Education : High school graduate, or equivalent.

Experience : A minimum of two (2) years experience in admission processes and collections procedures, and a working knowledge of managed care; interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments and deductible schedules and payment plans; and a working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Microsoft Office Suite) preferred.

Key Responsibilities include :

• Upon receipt of an intake inquiry form, verifies eligibility and benefits for all admissions.
• Communicate benefits information and co-payments to patients and families prior to admission.
• Obtains after-hours admission files from the nurse's station each morning if not delivered, with any exceptions approved by the office management.
• Maintain ticker-filing system for authorizations and benefit expiration; and communicate on a daily basis with Case Management, Physicians / Licensed Practitioners, and discharge planning department to provide an update on benefits status.
• Ensure all pre-admission and admission calls and paperwork are addressed and completed in an accurate and timely manner.
