Job Description :
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned.
Lead and coordinate curricular development, implementation and revision for the departments supervised.
Provide the building administrator(s) and the Office of Teaching and Learning Director with access, via the district intranet site, to all pacing guides and curricula for content areas supervised.
Lead and serve on the textbook selection committee for departments supervised.
Work with individuals and committees on problems of content and pedagogy for departments supervised.
Analyze multiple student data, including data on common assessments, as a means for improving instruction.
Participate in interviewing and hiring of new teachers in departments supervised.
Meet with curriculum and department coordinators and administrators to promote interdisciplinary programs.
Supervise and assist with technology implementation district-wide. Provide leadership to school Technology Leaders and Webmasters.
Supervise and evaluate the technical support staff and the K-5 library / media specialist.
Assist principals and curriculum / department coordinators with supervision of the Science (grades 6-12), Career and Technical Education (CATE) programs (grades 6-12), and the Library-Media program, K-12.
Prepare and administer city-wide budgets for technology and library media. Provide assistance with the budget process for other departments supervised.
Coordinate technology purchases and inventory.
Write and administer grants for technology, science, and career and technical education.
Participate in state and local committees, including, but not limited to the Cable TV Advisory Committee and CREC Technology Council.
Conduct orientation and in-service workshops for newly hired teachers and staff.
Provide leadership to the district Technology Committee.
Plan, provide / coordinate professional development activities at the department, district and building level.
Participate in Curricular Planning Council meetings.
Attend Board of Education and Committee meetings as appropriate.
Serve as a member of the mentor support team for beginning and new teachers.
Perform such other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Teaching and Learning and / or the Superintendent of Schools.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Master's Degree and / or Sixth Year Certificate.
Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS :
Intermediate Administrative Certification.
