Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Client Payment Unit Accountant. Under general supervision, this position will perform complex, highly technical accounting and auditing functions regarding the payment system for the Department. The position will maintain, update and balance ledgers, while also reviewing, analyzing, and reconciling complex financial documents such as vouchers, billings, and forms to ensure compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. This position will make payments via appropriate payment systems and will verify the accuracy of billings to ensure amounts and rates are correct. The position will also prepare and analyze various financial reports and reconcile payment discrepancies. This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is interested in playing a role in ensuring that DCFS accounting processes are carried out in an efficient, effective manner. Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting OR four years of technical accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in an office setting applying elementary knowledge of professional accounting and auditing theory, principles, methods, and procedures
  • 2 years of experience in an office setting applying elementary knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relating to state or non-state accounting or auditing procedures
  • 2 years of experience in an office setting performing detailed work involving the application of accounting theory to routine accounting or auditing problems
  • 2 years of experience in an office setting evaluating accounting problems of moderate difficulty and analyzing and interpreting less complex accounting records and reports
  • 2 years of experience in an office setting performing detailed work involving written or numerical data and making mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately
