The Dean of Nursing provides academic and administrative leadership for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program and reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer. The Dean is responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and continuous improvement of the nursing program in alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and state and federal regulations. This position provides leadership and guidance to faculty, staff, and students, fosters academic excellence, and supports student success through effective program management, faculty development, and collaboration with clinical and community partners. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides academic and operational leadership for the ADN Program, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and accrediting body requirements. Oversees day-to-day administrative functions for our College ADN program. Collaborates with the Chief Academic Officer to ensure adequate faculty, staff, and resources are available to meet program needs. Advises and supports students regarding academic performance, progression, and professional development. Promotes excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment by supporting faculty in curriculum design, course delivery, and evaluation processes. Oversees the preparation and review of course syllabi for compliance with college and regulatory standards. Coordinates student recruitment, admission, and retention strategies in collaboration with Admissions and Student Services. Oversees clinical placement coordination to ensure appropriate and compliant student clinical experiences. Provides mentorship and professional development opportunities for faculty and ensures orientation and support for new faculty members. Monitors and evaluates faculty performance, including classroom and clinical teaching effectiveness. Collaborates with the Corporate Finance Department and Chief Academic Officer on operational and capital budgeting for the nursing department. Participates in campus operations, strategic planning, and policy development for nursing and institutional initiatives. Encourages and supports faculty participation in scholarly, professional, and community activities related to nursing education. Assists with regulatory and accreditation activities, including site visits, reporting, and documentation. Ensures that the nursing curriculum remains current, evidence-based, and aligned with industry and community health needs. Participates in college committees, including General Faculty, Curriculum, and Evaluation Committees. Contributes to program and institutional assessment, improvement, and long-term planning efforts. Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Current, active, and unencumbered license (or eligibility for licensure) to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or Administration from an accredited institution required; Doctorate preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of professional nursing education experience within the past ten (10) years or equivalent combination of academic and leadership experience. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care. Demonstrated experience in academic administration, leadership, and faculty supervision preferred. Knowledge of nursing accreditation standards, program evaluation, and California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) regulations. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
