Data modeler (# positions : 2) - 70$ / hr

In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the existing enterprise data model and its implementation on the enterprise data platform. You will extend this model to include additional data coming into the platform. You will work on one or more projects to update the data model while following the enterprise modeling best practices and naming conventions. An ideal candidate will have experience in the banking and financial services industry. Candidates with risk and regulatory experience in banking are preferred. In this role, you will take the time to understand the nature and shape of the existing data, apply your banking experience, and create a model to meet all the business requirements. You will also be responsible to ensure the model meets the requirements for auditing, fine grained entitlements, history, and versioning.

This is NOT a traditional data modeling role. The candidate must bring a combination of business analysis, data analysis, business architecture, data architecture, data profiling, data warehousing, data mart modeling skills to define data structures that are futuristic and useful for the business in the long run while serving the immediate project needs.

In this role, the candidate will also be responsible for making the modeling changes based on JIRA tickets, reviewing the requirements and model changes with the master modeler and the rest of the team, maintaining data dictionary, and contributing back to the enterprise data model.

8-10 years of data modeling experience in data warehouse and data mart environments is required

8-10 years of experience analyzing sources and targets, mapping data, and designing data transformations required

8-10 years of experience in building or managing data marts and data warehouses required

6-8 years of experience building and managing master models required

6-8 years of experience profiling and analyzing data required

6-8 years of experience documenting business architecture, business domains, and business processes required

4-6 years of experience working as a business analyst and data analyst required

Deep understanding of primary key, business key, surrogate key, and foreign keys. Ability to apply this understanding in organizing non-relational data where the keys can't be enforced.

Deep understanding of data normalization and denormalization, data virtualization and physicalization. Ability to model and design databases for high performance.

Experience in data mapping, data standardization, and data profiling.

Advanced structured query language (SQL) skills.

Solid understanding and experience working with BitBucket, JIRA and Confluence.

Deep understanding of the security aspects resulting from fine grained entitlements requirements, multi-geo data, and role based access that must be reportable and auditable.

Experience in improving the model of an existing data platform without affecting the current production workloads.

Experience with NOSQL data stores; experience with Hive and Hive metastore.

Must have system design thinking, ability to plan and author technical documents. Require problem solving, and prioritization skills. Need ability to articulate new ideas and explain them to all level in the organization.
